General Information

The park is set up for self-guided walking tours. You can arrive any day of the week and enjoy an abundance of information. Print off a map before you go. To the right of the Visitors Center porch is the Vulcan Materials Company Fossils @ the Fort collection site. In this specific area, you can search for 400 million-year-old fossils donated by Vulcan Materials Company and sourced from one of their quarries. Print off an identification sheet before you go. In all cases, relic hunting and the use of metal detectors is never allowed in Fort Negley Park. To help us protect this historic place we ask that you stay on the paved paths and boardwalks. Tuesday through Saturday the Visitors Center offers additional information to enhance your tour including films on three aspects of Civil War Nashville – Federal Occupation, Fort Negley, and the Battle of Nashville. You can help us preserve the site and go home with a reminder of your time at Fort Negley by visiting the gift shop. We appreciate your support.
